Apple Maple Turkey Burgers with Maple Dijon Sauce

Daylight savings. Dark at 4:30 pm. And now? Frost on the car this morning. Brrrr. Not exactly grilling weather. But I want a burger!

Time to fire up the George Foreman grill 🙂

I love burgers. Love ’em! I love their sizzling, juicy exterior, veggies piled high, and the finger-licking sauce oozing off the sides. Much like the burger-of-my-dreams. That’s what I was thinking about while staring at the package of ground turkey in the fridge. With not enough time to replicate that, I started my search for a new burger idea.

Good ol’ Sandra Lee came to my rescue with these turkey burgers kicked up with a combo of maple syrup and Dijon mustard.

Sweet,savory, and juicy burger.

Mmm mmm good.

Maple Apple Turkey Burgers with Maple Dijon Sauce
Serves 4
Adapted from Sandra Lee on The Food Network

For Burgers:

1 1/4 pounds ground turkey breast
1/2 cup applesauce
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
2 tablespoons real maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Hamburger Buns
Lettuce leaves and tomato slices

For Maple-Dijon Sauce:

1/4 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons real maple syrup

Preheat indoor grill to medium heat. Prepare surface with spray oil.

Mix all burger ingredients together until well combined. Divide the dough into four equal portions, and form each into a patty. Grill on medium heat for 5 minutes each side (or about 5-6 minutes total if using a George Foreman).

While burgers are cooking, whisk together the sauce.

Serve burgers on toasted buns, with lettuce and tomato and 1 tablespoon of sauce.
